The Algerian school system shares some similarities with the American one.
In my country, children start school at the age of 6. It’s called primary school. They
Have to stay for 5 years. They learn how to count, read and write. At the end of this Stage, they sit for their first official exam known as “En of primary school learning”
After they pass it they can join middle school. They study there for 4 years. By the end of the 4th year, pupils have to pass the BEM exam in order to join the lycee.
If pupils succeed in this exam, they will go to the secondary school.
Pupils continue their studies three more years and then have the bac exam to be able to go to university.
The school year is 9 months long beginning from September till May.
Even in Algeria there are public and private schools. But private schools are better than public ones.
