Comparative of superiority
Compare between 2 elements, using comparatives of superiority with different adjectives
I am taller than my sister, but she is more beautiful than me.
My sister is good at Arabic, but she is better at English.
We use the comparative form of adjectives when we compare 2 persons, 2 things or 2 animals.
The adjectives can be classified in 3 categories:
Short adjective + er

Spelling notes:
- adjectives ending in “e” we add “r” only.
nice → nicer
- adjectives ending in "1 vowel, 1 consonant" we double the consonant.
hot → hotter than
big → bigger than
thin → thinner than
- Adjectives ending in”y” we drop the “y” into “i” and we add”er”.
- Adjectives ending in”w” we add “er”.
- Adjectives ending in”le” and contain 1 syllables are short adjectives but can be considered long adjectives.
easy → easier
narrow → narrower
