  • READ

We use all kinds of devices in our daily life, but we have rarely wondered whether they had the same shape and functions when they were first invented, and if they were as convenient as they are today.

Let us read about the most successful invention of the 20th century:

It is said that the television is  an accumulation of other discoveries and inventions.

1831: The era of electronic inventions experimented with electronics for a better life.

1862: Abbe Giovonna invented the Pantelegraph.  It transferred an image through wires ,similar to the way telephone wires transfer sound.

1873: Smith and May, two  scientists who experimented with selenium. This enabled them to understand that it was possible to transform pictures into signals so as to send them over wires more easily.

1876: George Carey designed a machine that people would use in their homes to view pictures.

1880: Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison invented the photo phone which transferred sound  but it could do the same with pictures at a higher quality.

1884: Paul Nipkow demonstrated how we could send multipictures through wires by using a rotating disk to move.

1900: The first “television” was shown at the 1900 World Fair in Paris.

1907: Scientists used “cathode rays”  and “a vacuum tube” to work  the television.

1924: John Baird was able to develop  a way to capture objects in motion.

1925: the first long distance television test was done between Washington D.C and New YorK.

1950s: Colour TV was released to the public in 1955.

1997: Panasonic engineers  developed and released the flat screen TV.
