Expressing preferences
When we express preferences we give our opinion about things we like more than others.
- I prefer reading books to watching TV.
 - I prefer to read books rather than watch TV.
 
When we express preferences we use the verb «prefer» followed by «to» or «rather than».
- Subject + prefer something to something else.
 
- a)I prefer photos to drawings.
 
- Subject+ prefer doing something to doing something else.
 
- b)I prefer driving to travelling by train.
 
- Subject + prefer to do something rather than (do) something else.
 
- c)She prefers to drive rather than travel by train.
 - d)He prefers to live in the country rather than in the city.
 
When we want to know about your preferences, we ask:
Do you prefer driving or flying?
The structure:
Do + you + prefer doing something or doing something else?
Does + he / she + prefer doing something or doing something else?
